Karlis Miesnieks (1887.31.I – 1977.25.X)

Studied in the studio of J. Madernieks (1910), in Petersburg society of Imperial art promotion school (1911) and he graduated class of theatre stage design in Petersburg Central drawing school of Stiglic.

Artist worked as a drawing teacher, headed his own art studio (together with L. Liberts) and was a drawing pedagogue at Art academy of Latvia (1922 – 53).

K. Miesnieks traveled to Paris, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

He took part in Independent artists unit (1920 – 24), society “Sadarbs” (1920 – 40) and also was a member of Artists` Union (since 1944).

Artist took part in exhibitions since 1920.
His works were exhibited in Riga (1959, 1967, 1971, 1977), Madona (1959), Cesis (1959), Ventspils (1960), Liepaja (1960), Jekabpils (1960), Plavinas (1960), Kandava (1961), Tukums (1961, 1976), Bauska (1961), Jaunpiebalga (1968, together with J. Strazdins and K. Baltgailis).
