Ansis Artums (1908.15.I – 1997.13.I)
Ansis Artums with his family lived in Vitebsk (1914 – 19).
When they returned to Latvia he learned in secondary school of Tukums (1923 – 27) and in 1926 organized first exhibition together with schoolmate A. Lapins.
In 1927 A. Artums attended studios of L. Liberts and K. Miesnieks in Riga.
In 1933 he graduated Landscape studio of V. Purvitis in Latvia Art academy.
In 1937 he was in Paris and studied museums.
Artist was a member of Mukusala artists group (1933 – 40). He also was a member of Artists Union (since 1945, in 1952 expelled, in 1958 restored).
Since 1981 A. Artums was rich of merits employee of art in Latvia Republic of Soviet Union.
He took part in exhibitions since 1932.
Self-exhibitions were made in Riga (1957, together with A. Junkers, 1970, 1978), Tukums (1958, 1964, 1970, 1979), Jelgava and Liepaja (1964), Jurmala (1981, 1983, 1984).
Memorial exhibition were in Riga (2003).
