Janis Stanislavs Birnbaums (1863.17.V – 1944.8.X)
Janis Stanislavs Birnbaums got his first skills in art at uncle painter Janis Roze. He set in the Battaglia class at B. Vilevalde of Petersburg Art academy as an external student (1887 – 97). In 1897 J. S. Birnbaums got a title of self-employed artist.
He took part in association of Latvian artists “Rukis”.
After graduating artist lived in Cita, where he worked as a teacher in gymnasium and school of art craft.
In 1923 J. S. Birnbaums returned to Latvia and worked as a teacher in Rujiena and Valka.
Since 1929 he lived in Riga and focused only at painting.
Artist was a participant of Latvian Ethnographical exhibition (1896).
Personal exhibitions were in Riga (1928, 1930), memorial exhibition – in Riga (1978).
