Still Life
1999, cardboard, oil, 54x62,5 cm 2 500 EUR / 1 757,01 LVL
Imants Vecozols. It is easy to identify the creative style of the professor of Latvian Art Academy – in the course of
his career it has progressed from fi gural and genre painting to still life, where it became stable. The so-called white still
life, as if depicting objects in rural kitchen, serves as an excuse for nuanced studies in white colour. The artist combines it with
the accents on clay, pumpkin and other darker colours. I. Vecozols’ still life also tells of Latvian nation, traditions, romanticizes
everyday life and expresses certain nostalgia.
