Rūdolfs Pinnis. The art of R. Pinnis’ earned cult status in the creative circles of the Soviet time, since the artist was
inspired by French fauvism. His style was perfect, thanks to the pre-war education in Paris. Starting with 1960s the painting of pure colours and
decorative spaces did not contradict the optimistic spirit of the age. Rūdolfs Pinnis’ art is made special both by liberated artistry and virtuosity. The artist’s style is
manifest in the painting not only by the depiction of the fl owers, but also by the stylised presentation of the vase.
