Sergey Vinogradov (1869-1938)

ainter and art teacher was born in Russia, Bolsije Soli.

He was born in a pastor’s family. 

1889 – Graduating from the School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture in Moscow with a Gold medal.

1912 – The degree “academician” at the Academy of Art in St. Petersburg.

1884 – Took part at exhibitions.

            Vinogradov is one of the founders of the Russian Society of Art; he organised traveling exhibitions in the USA. From the USA he arrived to Riga and became a Latvian citizen. Mainly he lived in the vicinity of Rezekne.  

            Vinogradov painted landscapes, interiors, portraits and genre paintings. He used aquarelles, oils and pastel techniques.
Exhibitions:

Copenhagen (1927, 1929), Prague (1928), Amsterdam (1930), Belgrade (1930, 1936), London (1935), KF (1935, 1936/37, exhibitions of group „Esthetic” (1935, 1938).

Solo exhibitions:

Riga 1925, 1935 and 1936/37.

The Gold medal at exhibition in Munich.

He worked at magazines “Мир искусства”, “Перезвоны”.and in thirties at magazine “Сегодня” publishes his memories about his teachers V. Makovsky, V. Poļevy and others.
