Herberts Ernests Silins (1926–2001)
Studied under the guidance of F. E. Bange, J. Kuga, L. Liberts in Latvian School of Art in Elsingen (1946 – 48).
He acquired dyer’s craft when he returned in Latvia in 1948.
The artist worked shortly in the company “Māksla”.
He took part in exhibitions since 1946.
Works of H. E. Silins were exhibited in Riga, Moscow (1958, 1968, 1990), Japan (1940), Hamburg (1990), Sollentun (Sweden, 1990), Ghent (Belgium, 1993).
Solo exhibitions were made in Riga (1966,1972, 1981, 1992 – 1994, together with A. Dumpe, 1996, 1999, 2002), Tukums (1966, 1981, 1986, 1991), Ventspils (1966, 1997, 1998, together with K. Silins), Jelgava (1966), Jurmala (1966, 1982), Talsi (1974, 1998), Roja (1974), Mersrags (1980), Moscow (1989).
H. E. Silins was a member of the Artists’ Union since 1960.
The artist was awarded with several prizes in competitions devoted to sports and sea.
He was a lifelong stipendiate of the Latvian Culture Capital Foundation (since 1999).
