Peteris Rungis (1893.23.II – 1967.23.II, Latvia)

Since 1912 studied at Studio of J. Madernieks, at period of 1st World war – studied to Estonian painter N. Trira, Revel. He graduated Art academy of Latvia, landscape studio of V. Purvitis with diploma work “Native country”. He worked as a drawing teacher in Riga (1923 – 1934), and Bauska, Griku first school (1934 – 1941), Codes, Berzu first school. Since 1957 he led a visual Studio.

Exhibitions: since 1929, solo exhibition at Bauska 1961.

Rungis painted landscapes to fellow in traditions, what founded in V. Purviti’s school. He wrote about expositions too at magazines “Bauskas darbs”, “Communism’s way”, “Soviet Kuldiga”. Artist painted decorations to theater at province.
