Erika Romane (1920-2002) - painter.

Graduated J. Tilberg studio (1935-39), painting department of Art Academy of Latvia (1948); Diploma work - "Spring works in gardening" (under the guidance of J. Liepins). Teacher at the Riga Secondary School of Applied Arts (1948-75). She has participated in exhibitions since 1951; personal exhibitions in Riga (1970, 1977, 1978, 1995), Koknese (1977), Iecava (1988). Member of the Artists` Union since 1959; Member of Aesthetic Commission at the Artists` Union. Member of the Watercolor Division, member of the Art Fund Portrait Commission.

Mainly she worked in oil painting technique, but for many years she became as one of the brightest watercolor artists of her generation. In particular, she turned to the portrait genre, painted popular Latvian cultural workers - J. Rainis, L. Svemps, J. Zabers, A. Abols, G. Skulme, I. Zarins, G. Krolis, J. Liepinsh, V. Shusts , A. Kairish, I. Graubina, P. Gravels and other portraits and several self-portraits. She is considered as psychological portraitist. She also painted acts and landscapes.
