Gunars Klava (1933 – 1989)

Gunars Klava was born in 1933 in Priekule.

1953 - graduated from J. Rosenthal Art School

1964 - began to participate in art exhibitions

1970 - He graduated from the Latvian State Academy of Arts

1970 - Admitted to the Latvian Artists' Union

          G. Klavas great experience schedule and book illustrations to some extent also affected the manner of painting, creating his own signature handwriting and style. Work is also reflected in the artist's literary experience and erudition in history, geography, music. Paintings visualization metaphorically intertwine with poetry. The artist works in various techniques freely, form stylistic solution flexible and subject to revealing the specific nature themes. Paintings reveal the artist's experiences and the resulting wide range of emotions and feelings, his defiance of official art policy dogma. Several Gunars Maple 60-year works are considered unique works of Latvian non-conformist.
