Gunars Klava was born in 1933 in Priekule.
1953 - graduated from J. Rosenthal Art School
1964 - began to participate in art exhibitions
1970 - He graduated from the Latvian State Academy of Arts
1970 - Admitted to the Latvian Artists' Union

Several Gunars Maple 60-year works are considered unique works of Latvian non-conformist.
