Alberts Filka аlso Alberts Pilkus (1891 3 VIII – 1938 18 IX)

Artist was born at Jurmala and at the childhood the fisherman’s life, pines and sea was so good known to him.
1909 – 1911 – Learning at the art studio of J. Madernieks.
1911 – 1912 – Learning at the Art School of Kazan.

1913 – 1915 – Studies at the Imperial Art Favoring school at St. Petersburg to A. Rylov and N. Rerich.

1917 – Artist worked as a drawing teacher and tried continue the studies at St Petersburg, but looking for better life he traveled to Caucasus.
1920 – Filka returned at Latvia and worked as a decorator at National Opera (1921), Latgale’s theater (1926 - 1927) and as a teacher at Rezekne, Daugavpils and Riga.

Artist took part at the exhibitions since 1913.

The first solo exhibition he made at the 1922 with 42 paintings and exhibited also wood cuttings and drawings.

Riga – 1928, 1935 with 78 paintings

1938 – 39 with 140 paintings (after dead)
1920 – 1931 – was a member Independent artists and since 1924 he took part at the organization’s exhibitions. The paintings are exposed also at the Cultural Foundation exhibitions.

1917 – 1921 _ Filka’s creative work was influenced by N. Rerich and his paintings are full of Fantastic. Artist painted mainly genre paintings depicted a peasant’s and fisherman’s life and work, also painted a marketplaces of Rezekne and Riga.

The paintings are at the State Museum expositions.
