ALKSNIS ADAMS (ADAMS EDUARDS ALKSNE)
(1864.10.III Mazsalaca, “Alksni” – 1897.21.III Riga, Latvia)
Adams Alksnis was born in peasant’s family.
Education - Craft school in Germany (teacher K. Felsko).
Since 1883 -1892 he studied at academy of Art in St. Petersburg.
Alksnis graduated Art Academy with 3 degree artist’s diploma.
He took part at Latvian artist’s association “Rukis”at St. Petersburg.
Exhibitions:
1883 – group exhibition in Craft school at Riga;
1896 – ethnography exhibition in Riga;
Memorial exhibitions: 1925, 1947, 1964, at Riga.
The heritage in Latvian art of artist is some drawings, aquarelles, and some oil paintings. He painted a Latvian peasant’s live and mythological sights.
