The JULEN (Christmas) plates have been issued by Rörstrand each year, from 1968 until 1999. Gunnar Nylund designed the decorations that – apart from the first two plates – were based on Selma Lagerlöf's book The Wonderful Adventures of Nils (Nils Holgersson's wonderful journey across Sweden), published in 1906.
