Imants Vecozols graduated from J. Rozentals School of Art in Riga (1954) and Painting Department of the Latvian Art Academy (1960, with excellence, diploma work “On railway bank”, under the guidance of E. Kalniņš).

He takes part in exhibitions since 1958.

Most significant exhibitions were in Paris, Bordeaux, Strasburg, Bristol, Winchester, London (together with V. Ozols and L. Endzelīna), Rome.

Solo exhibitions:

In Tartu (1974, together with L. Endzelīna);

In Madona (1977);

In Dole (1982, together with V. Ozols);

In Riga (1983, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999);

In Kaunas (1984);

In Koknese (1985);

In Mainz (Germany, 1994);

In Edinburgh (UK, 2000).

I. Vecozols is a Member of Latvian Artists’ Union since 1962. He also was a member of artists society “B13” (1992 – 1997).

The artist worked as a teacher in the Secondary School of Applied Arts (1960 – 67). He also was a teacher of the Enrolment course and the Painting Department (1967 – 73), Assistant Professor (since 1973), the Head of Easel-painting studio (since 1982) and a Professor (since 1989) of the Latvian Arts Academy. He achieved Master’s degree in 1992.

I. Vecozols paints figurative compositions, landscapes, views of country and cities and portraits, but most of all he works in still life genre. The artist has painted with oil, tempera, watercolors and pastel.
