Maija Nora Tabaka (b. 1939.5.XI)
Painter.

Maija Nora Tabaka graduated Painting department of Latvia Art academy (1969, diploma work “Group portrait of young artists”, under the guidance of E. Kalnina), she also studied in Graphic department of academy (1957 – 59).

Artist is a member of Latvian artists union since 1970.

She was exchange stipendiary of German Academy in West Berlin (1977 – 78).

Tabaka takes part in exhibitions since 1963. Her works were exhibited in Moscow, Prague, Berlin, Gdansk, Budapest, Duseldorf, Vilnius, Venice, Cologne, New York, Porto, Paris, Chicago, Riga, Latvia.

In Riga (1980, 1987, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999);

In Leningrad, Goteborg, Norcheping, Rostok (1983);

Artist works most of all in easel painting, but sometimes she illustrates children books. Tabaka also is published in press memories and thoughts about art processes.

Film director Herc Frank has shooted a documentary “Maija Tabaka”.
