Anita Meldere (1949)

Born in 1949. Professional education – J. Rozentāls Riga Art High School (1960 – 1967), Painting Department of the Art Academy of Latvia (1967 – 1973), graduated under the leadership of prof. E. Kalnins. Master of Arts.

Participates in exhibitions since 1972. Member of the Artists' Union of Latvia from 1973 and from 1993 - member of the association "B – 13" (1993 - 1998).
Has held solo exhibitions in Riga (1985), Vilnius (1986), Jurmala (1988), Toronto (1990), Riga (1993), Riga (1994), Belgium, Germany, Riga (1995), Riga (1996), Riga, Germany ( 1997). She has regularly participated in group exhibitions in Riga, Moscow, Petersburg, Vilnius, France, the United States of America, Germany, Japan and elsewhere.
The works are owned by the State Art Museum and the Latvian Artists' Union, the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Russian Art Foundation, as well as in many private collections in Latvia and abroad.
Received a diploma at the exhibition of works of young artists in Moscow (1976), bronze medals at the international exhibition "Sports in art" (1973).

"A clean canvas on my easel is always the beginning and hope of a new life. I am fascinated by colors, lines and the ability of my fingers to conjure the illusion of depth. My paintings contain the pain and pleasure of life."
