Janis Mednis (1910 28 05 Valka, Latvia – 1997 30 09) – painter

Mednis learned at Smiltenes secondary school, where teacher Zegners creates to him first interest about painting and together with pupils painted decorations to theater. He graduated Art Academy of Latvia, master class of V. Purvitis (1939) with diploma work “Landscape with mill”.

He took part at exhibitions since 1935.

Solo exhibitions:

Riga 1969, 1971, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1986.

Jurmala 1975 .

Mednis worked as a teacher at Kraslava, Talsi, art school of J. Rozentals and many years lead a D. I. Y. art studies and summer camps - seminars.

He was a member of Artist Union since 1966.

Artist painted mainly landscapes.
