Irena Luse (b. 1948.15.IV) Painter.

Irena Luse graduated from J. Rozentals School of Art in Riga (1966) and the Painting Department of the Latvian Art Academy (1972, with the diploma work “Harbour” under the guidance of E. Kalninsh). She also took Master’s degree (1997).

The artist worked as a lecturer in the Latvian Art Academy since 1972. She works as an assistant (since 1995), lecturer (since 1998) and Assistant Professor (since 2000) in the Painting department of the Latvian Art Academy.

I. Luse takes part in exhibitions since 1974. Her works were exhibited in Latvia, Lithuania, the UK, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Holland and Finland. Solo exhibitions were organised in Riga in 1994, 1997 and 1999.

She is a member of the Latvian Artists’ Union (since 1974) and the international association of artists “B13”.

Most of all I. Lūse works with pastel; she paints figurative compositions and portraits.

The artist also has worked with books and press graphics.

Her works are placed in many collections in Latvia and abroad.
