Arvils Linde, born 1987 in Riga. Has a bachelor and Master degrees in Fashion design from the Art Academy of Latvia. And a second Masters degree in painting at Art Academy of Latvia. Lives and works in Riga, Latvia.
Arvils Linde is a Latvian artist with a background in both fine arts and fashion. He holds an MA in Fine Art, along with a BA and MA in Fashion from the Art Academy of Latvia. Transitioning from a career in fashion design, he has dedicated the past seven years to the visual arts, exploring illustration, painting, and sculpture, and with every new exhibition he aims to blur the lines between the three mediums. Linde's artistic endeavours are often influenced by mythology, folklore, and magic realism.
His approach to figurative subjects involves a distinctive amalgamation of stylisation derived from the fashion industry, combined with classical fine art and applicative painting and drawing techniques. Linde's work often features zoomorphic characters confronted by abstract elements, serving as a means to convey aspects of the human condition and its relationship with the surrounding universe.
Notable exhibition spaces that have showcased Linde's work include the Putti Art Gallery, Berga Bazars, Museum of Art and History in Ogre, and Riga Airport VIP Lounge. His pieces are in private collections across Latvia, Estonia, Netherlands, Italy, the UK, USA, and Germany.
