Marga Lielkraste – Leitlande (1911.4.III – 2003.VII) (Since 1940 named Marga Leitlande; born at 1911 04 III Valmiera, Latvia) - painter

Education:

        One year studied at the J. Bine studio ;

        1931 – 1942 Art Academy of Latvia the landscape studio of V. Purvitis with diploma work “Riga at winter time”.

        She worked as a teacher at direction of Education (1936 – 1938), at Art Cooperative (1941 – 1946) and to medicine professor P. Stradins made exhibition aids and copies for Medicine Museum (1947 – 1948). At Academy of Sciences Leitlande worked as Artist - decorator at faculty of Geology and geography (1948 – 1950), as teacher at Krimulda’s Children Sanatory and as painting studio consultant at E. Melgaila Folk Art studio.

        -member of Artist Union since 1959;

        - took part at the exhibitions since 1937;

        - Solo exhibitions – Riga (1972, 1981, 1987), Cesvaine (1972, 1973), Cesis (1972), Jelgava (1972, 1976), Valka (1974 with A. Artums and B. Delle), Ogre, Sigulda (1981), Riga, Mazsalaca, Valmiera, Rujiena (1982), Gulbene (1983), Stucka, Koknese (1988), Dole, Riga (1989), Paris (1993).

         At her paintings she continued a tradition the traditions of V. Purvitis, mainly painted a landscapes, more autumn in expressive color.
