Arturs Lapins (1911-1983) - Soviet Latvian artist and art historian.
People's Artist of the Latvian SSR (1954). Laureate of two Stalin prizes of the second degree (1950, 1951). Member of the CPSU (b) since 1940.
Lapinsh was born in the village of Sata (now Tukums district, Latvia).
In 1929-1932 he studied at the of Latvia at Miesnieks and Ubans. Corresponding member of the Art Academy of USSR (1970). The main artist at Drama Theater of the Latvian SSR (1940-1941) and the GATM of the Latvian SSR since 1945. Chairman of the Board at the Artists` Union of Latvian SSR (1953-1956). In 1945-1947, the pro-rector of the Art Academy of Latvian SSR. Several monographs author about Latvian painting classics.
