Dontsov German

(1916. Saratow, Russia – 2001. Riga, Latvia) 
          His professional carrier began at Art School of Astrakhan (1934 – 1939) and continued at the Harkow Art Institute, Painting department (1939 – 1940).
          In 1946 he entered at Art Academy of Latvia, graduated master class of J. Liepins, with diploma work “Look at adversary”.
          From 1949 -1952 Doncovs worked as a teacher at Art craft school Nr. 7.
Since 1939 took part at the exhibitions.
Solo exhibitions:
Riga (1967), Jurmala (1973).
          He was one from activists “The artist’s - 2 World War participants” and took part at all exhibitions, what was organizing from this group. In the 90s, Dontsov's works actively buying Germans. On June 14, at 2007, Dontsov painting participated in auction at Sotheby’s, estimate price was at 6,000 to 8,000 GPB and sold for 6,600 GPB. On May 29, at 2012 Sothebys auction, his work was estimated from 12 000 to 15 000 EUR. On June 29, at 2018, G. Dontsov's works are included in the Hermitage Fine Art auction in Monaco with an estimate of 4,000 to 6,000 euros.
          Member of Artist Union since 1960.
          At earliest paintings Doncovs painted industrial landscapes with figurative composition that named Socialistic Realism. At last years he painted mainly landscapes and memory about soldiery day.
          Gradually he start paint at expressively – impressionistic manner.
