Gregoriy Bonia (1918-1989)

Soviet Ukrainian painter, graphic. Honored Artist of Ukraine. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Grigory Vasilyevich Bonya was born on April 1, 1918 in the village of Gradizhsk, Poltava region. From 1936 to 1939 he studied at the Kharkov Art School with S. F. Besedin. In 1939 he entered the Kiev Art Institute, but his studies were interrupted by the war. Bonya G.V. - participant of the Great Patriotic War, awarded military decorations. After the war, the artist returned to study and creativity. Since 1949 he has participated in regional, republican and all-Union art exhibitions. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1950 he graduated from the Kiev Art Institute, where his teachers were A. Shovkunenko, V. Kostetsky, M. Sharonov, T. Yablonskaya. In 1978, Grigory Vasilyevich Bona was awarded the title “Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.” Personal exhibitions took place in Kyiv in 1980 and in Krasnoyarsk in 1981. He worked in the field of easel, monumental painting and graphics. Author of thematic paintings, landscapes and portraits. The artist's works are kept in the National Museum. A. Sheptytsky in Lviv, in the Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum, in galleries and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
