Jēkabs Apinis (1899 in Sloka, Latvia - 1945 in Hamburg, Germany), painter.

Jēkabs Apinis was born into a teacher's family. He came to Pleskov as a refugee during the First World War, studied at the Pleskov School of Art and the Fan der Flit School of Craftsmen (1917-18). He graduated from the V. Purvītis Landscape master workshop of the Art ACademy of Latvia with a diploma thesis - "Evening" (1932), emigrated in 1944.

Participated in exhibitions since 1929.

Member of the Society of Latvian Artists (1933 – 38), also participated in their exhibitions.
At the 1st, 2nd and 3rd art exhibitions of the Cultural Foundation.

J. Apinis is a peculiar representative of the V. Purvitis school, he painted the sea, sunset motifs, pine trees
