Arijs Skride

(1906-1987)

Arijs Skride graduated from the Landscape Painting studio of V. Purvitis in the Latvian Art Academy (1932).

He traveled to paint to Germany in 1943.

The artist was a professor of Painting Department in the Latvian Art Academy (1942 – 64).

A.     Skride took part in exhibitions since 1928.

Solo exhibitions were organised in Riga (1966, 1981), Cesis, Jelgava (1966), Madona (1986).

The memorial exhibition took place in Riga (1992).

He was a member of artists’ group “Sadarbs” (1928 – 39).

The artist was a member of Artists’ Union (since 1944).
