 Lidija Auza

(1914. 24. 02 Vitebsk, Belarus – 1989. 13. 12 Riga, Latvia) Painter

 She studied at the Art Academy of Latvia (1936-1938) and graduated in 1949 (with diploma work „Ballet rehearsal” (under the guidance of J. Liepins).

She was a teacher at school in Riga (1934-1943) and worked as a decorator (1946. – 1947),  LVI (1947-1950).

She took part at exhibitions since 1949.

Solo exhibitions:

Riga – 1966, 1971, 1975, 1986.

Jelgava – 1966.

Talsi – 1966, 1975, 1986.

L. Auza was a member of Latvian Artists’ Union since 1956.

At the beginning, she painted ballet-devoted works – psychological portraits (V. Vilcina, H. Ritenbergs), where great attention were devoted to movement and light.

In the middle of 60, the artist changed her artistic language and painted mainly decorative landscapes.

In the 80-ties, the works of L. Auza became laconic and simple.
