Lilija Dinere (1955)
Latvian artist and book illustrator. Image author on postage stamps of Latvia. Illustrator of more than 50 books. Board member of the Artists' Union of Latvia (2008 - 2011).
Biography
Dinere Lily was born in 1955 in Riga, in the family of the writer Cecilia Dinere. In 1973 she graduated from J. Rosenthal secondary school of art. In 1980 she graduated from the pictorial-scenographic department of the Arts Academy of Latvia. Since 1981, member of the Artists` Union of Latvia, from 2008 to 2011, board member. Since 1974 she participated in more than 150 exhibitions in Latvia and abroad.
At the beginning of reforms in USSR, Lily at first time came to India. She was invited to Jaipur with the graphich exhibition by one Indian rajah, she met him in Riga fan society of Indian culture. "This man has adapted to the Indian audience Shakespeare's plays. And he came to Riga, he was interested in Janis Rainis drama - his play, he also rewrote them by Indian way. Yes, mentality of the Western and Eastern people are very different, but, nevertheless, Indian public enjoyed exhibition, which I had brought to them.
Creation
She works in drawing, watercolor, painting techniques (oil, acrylic, mixed technique), wall paintings and stained glass. Participated in more than 150 exhibitions in Latvia and abroad. 20 exhibitions were personal. Her work can be seen in museums and private collections around the world. Work L. Dinere are in museums at Latvian National Art Museum, Tretyakov Gallery, Pushkins` State Museums of Fine Arts, Gotland Arts museum, Frauenmuseum in Bonn and others, as well as in private collections in Canada, India, Japan.
