Malda Muizule (1937-2022) - graphic artist, painter.
Born in the family of a blacksmith. Ivars Muizhulis husband - painter, the daughter Patricia Muizhule - painter. She graduated from LMV of Liepaja (1957), graphic faculty of AAL (1963); Diploma - etching "Fishermens of Roja" the head of diploma A. Apinis. Participates in exhibitions since 1949. Notable solo exhibitions: 1973 (in Madona, Riga, together with A. Gulbis and I. Helmuts), 1980 (Riga) 1981 (Riga. together with H. Elmu and D. Jonkaitīti-Ģediminieni), 1982 (in Lorient - France) 1983 (Tallinn, Madona) 1984 (Valmiera, Kuldiga, Sigulda), 1986 (Riga, Vienna), 1987 (Riga, Salaspils) 1988 (Priekule), 1990 (Riga, together with M. Draguni, I. Libieti, I. Helmūtu), 1991 (Riga, together with I. Muizulis) 1993 (Riga), 1994 (Riga, together with V. Mikani). Member of the Artists` Union of Latvia since 1966.
One of the most famous Latvian masters of etching. Fluent in the technique of etching in all its complexity, she making compositions directly on the metal plate. At first worked more in technique of hatching. ("Kuldīga", "Old Town", both 1967), in the early '70s, one of the first in Latvian graphic intensively start to identify specific in graphics capabilities with the use of colors in complex with multi-etching to create texture and variety of colors. In the `80s in her works of etchings increases color intensity and ambiguity of images, in the works appear ethnographic motives and influence of worlds` cultures synthesis. Using color she developed graphic principles in lithography. Worked in watercolors technique, where the fragility of the drawing is combined with bright colors in a large color euphoria. Also she worked in oil technique. She worked in the press and books decorating. She drew caricatures, posters, art bookmarks.
In 1973, on the Baltic exhibition of watercolor she was awarded with diploma by Culture Ministry of Latvia, in 1974 received diploma and medal from the art association for the best creative work in 1973, in 1977 at 4 Tallinn Graphics Triennial received diploma, in 1980 at 5 Tallinn Graphics Triennial - the main prize (for colored etchings "autumn games", 1978; "Olympic motive", 1978; "The historical motive", 1979; "Morning bird", 1980)
