Hermann Grinbergs (1888.29.IX Riga – 1928.9.XII Riga)

He was one from founders of interior painting at Riga.
1902 – 1904 - E. Todes glass painting workshop.
1904 - 1908 - Germany craft school at Riga (drawing under B. Borherts), Decorative painting Studio of R. Petersons.
1908 – 1910 – Riga’s Art school.
1912 – 1914 – Decorative painting to Hess, Munich, took part in exhibitions.
1919 – At Latvia, he worked as an interior decorator and was most popular. 1922 - 1924 –wall paintings at cinema ,,Splendid Palace’’ (with E. Laube), made paintings at Artist club (1922  with J.R.Tilbergs ), interior designer at house of E. Smilgis (with E. Stalbergs ), paintings at Army Officer house, Lutheran Church at Tornakalns, Schwartz and Grinvalda cafe, cinema ,,AT’’, he painted also in private flats, at Tallinn’s cinema ,, ARS’’ (Estonia ) – 1926 and ,,Gloria Palace”.
Grinbergs worked also in applied graphic.
1922 – 1928 he worked at academy of Art as a chairman of gyps and figurative class. He was one from founders of Independents artist’s unity.
Artist took part in competitions:
-  2nd place at posters competition, at the city Ulme;
- About church painting project at city Nimfenberga;
- 1st place in competition for Police house’s reporting hall at city Munich.
Artist painted also genre paintings, portraits, nature studies, too, his painting manner was traditional realism, with little stylization and decoratively.
Selfexhibitions: Riga (1919), together with T. Brensons and R. Maurs.
Memorial exhibition: 1929, Riga.
