Laimdonis Grasmanis (1916-1970)
1933 – 1937 – Art school of Applied art in Liepaja
1937 – 1942 – Art Academy of Latvia
Artist took part at the exhibitions since 1937.
Solo exhibitions: Riga 1943, 1966, 1970, 1978.
1945 – The member of Latvian Artist Union, 1962 – The member of Latvian Theater and Cinematography.Artist painted at the oil and water color technique and painted landscapes and portraits. The painting method polychrome and expressive. He was a master of psychological portrait and pained much portraits of the Latvian cultural peoples and actors (L. Freimane, E. Radzina, J. Osis, A. Milbrehts, V. Zandbergs, P. Petersons, H. Liepins). His works are significant with artistic and cultural value. Grasmanis was one from remarkable stage designers in Latvia and his work life spend at the Latvian Drama theater where is made lot of spectacles and costumes. His life was connected with Riga’s Cinematography also.
