Lija Bumane (1940-1990)

In 1959 graduated J. Rosenthal Riga Art School, then in 1965 the Latvian State Academy of Painting department with a diploma work "Autumn harvest", led by Ed. Kalnins.
In 1965. -1970. worked as a teacher in the J. Rosenthal Riga Art School.

Participated in exhibitions since the 1966.

At Artists' Union since the 1968.

Socially active artist - worked painting symposiums in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, had the Union of Artists Painting section office member of the Arts Fund, Arts Council member, etc.

One of the brightest and talented artist of his generation. She painted mostly figurative compositions (historical events, fishermen, work and everyday life, market scenes) and still lifes. Realist, tonal painting in common with the express strong individual character. Creativity is generally characterized by bright color spectrum.

Koknese (1980, together with H. Silins, 1985), Liepaja, Talsi (1980, together with H. Silins), Riga (1980), Bauska, Aluksne (1981, together with H. Silins) Lapmezciems (1984), Cesis (1986); Memorial Exhibition, Riga (1991).
