The new series by Edijs Kravaļs was developed in 2025.
Painting style: Abstract expressionism (Action painting/ Tachisme subgenre). Large format. 150 x 150 cm.
Series “No. 200”: The series was developed with a special emphasis on dynamics and artistic and architectural narrative. Primary colors of the paintings: Blue, green, red, orange and yellow. Each painting has a special and technically advanced interplay between color layers in the spatial environment, which is achieved by contrasting tones (variations, degrees of saturation) and dark/light areas.
Author Edijs Kravalis
Education: Janis Rozentāls Riga Art Secondary School, Latvian Academy of Arts.
Handwriting: A characteristic color scheme that visually breaks down fundamental staticity, allowing the gaze to be in constant movement of change and diversity.
Since architecture and design are a significant factor of presence for Edijs Kravalis, its influence can also be read in his works.
Aleksandrs Rodins (1922–2001) was an outstanding Latvian artist. Rodins created art that combined logical compositional structure with deep emotional resonance, creating works that appealed to the viewer with their simplicity and power.
Starts on December 12 at 17:00. Classical Art Gallery Antonija, 142 Brivibas Street, invites you to visit an exhibition dedicated to the work of the outstanding Latvian artist Aleksandrs Rodins (1922–2001). Rodins’ art reflects his journey from realism to abstraction, illuminating both the Latvian countryside and episodes of everyday life. With a strong sense of colour, texture and emotion, he focused on both human figures and natural motifs. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to touch the creative signature and vision of a talented 20th century artist.
We invite you to visit the personal exhibition of ANSIS BUTNORS - VIEWS AND MOODS.
From August 22 to September 22.
An exhibition about views and moods that inspire and make the artist appreciate them. Each painting is like a separate story, and why it aroused the interest and sympathy of the artist, let it remain an unanswered question for him and the viewer.
In the works of the exhibition, using various means of artistic expression, the artist turns to the genre of portraiture, landscape and everyday life, including various scenes of modern life. For the artist, the arrangement of elements in the picture is of primary importance, but the color scheme is also important, these two factors form the overall structure or composition of the work of art.
An essential characteristic of the work of Ansis Butnors is the use of various basic principles of composition, and, according to the artist himself, although this is very good, it cannot create the impression of the exhibition as something unified, integral.
Ansis Butnors was born in 1977. Educated at the Janis Rozentals Riga Art School and the Latvian Academy of Arts. Since 2002, he has participated in exhibitions in Latvia and abroad.
We invite you to visit Igor Maikov's solo exhibition MASQUERADE BALL

Igor Maikov's works have been permanently exhibited since 1994 - both in Latvia and abroad.

The 17th international plein-air was strongly related to the wonder of Lithuanian UNESCO heritage – Kaunas Pažaislis Abbey, its history, atmosphere and virtues. The plein-air took place right in the complex of Pažaislis which surroundings were about to help participants to enjoy the concentration of peace and find the most creative painterly solutions. The concept of the 17th plein-air was “The Expression of Silence” and this concept was the title of entire plein-air.
Mostly lithuanian artists participated in this plein-air and one arrived from the neighbourhood – Latvia. Participators: Ausma Bankauskaitė, Rolandas Karalius, Gražvydas Kardokas, Rūta Katiliūtė, Kristine Kvitka (Latvia), Edita Stankevičiūtė, Audrius Šumskas, Gintautas Vaičys. The exhibition based on this plein-air was also shown in Pažaislis Abbey and in the gallery „Homo Ludens“ in Jonava, Lithuania (2010). And now we are very pleased to present it in Riga.“
