Arturs Dronis (1904-1995) - painter, teacher.

Was born in Cesis. He studied at the Cesis First Elementary School and from 1920 to 1924 at the Decorative Arts Department at the Cesis School of Crafts at Karlis Brenсen. Karlis Brencens has induced Arthur to enter to the Art Academy of Latvia. Arthur worked as a scenery drawer during the whole period of his studies. With the diploma works "Village Idyll" in 1934, the artist graduated from the Art Academy of Latvia. The painting was lost during the Second World War. He worked as a draftsmanship, drawing and art history teacher at Cesis Central School.

Arthur Dronis painted portraits, landscapes, landscapes of Gauja and also portraits of Vidzeme cultural workers. Participated in all art exhibitions in Cesis since 1934.

In the 1950s he created scenery for the Cesis Theater.

In 1970, 1975, 1979 in the Cesis exhibition hall were held his personal exhibitions, memorial exhibition in 1999. The artist's works are in the funds of the Cesis Historical and Art Museum, at the Cesis Regional Library, as well as in private collections in Latvia, Germany, Australia, United Kingdom and United States.
